Outdoor Office Day Australia

Outdoor Office Day is a growing global movement encouraging people to reconnect with nature at work. What started in the Netherlands in 2019 has now spread across continents, including Australia. You are now also invited to make urban nature and staying active a regular part of your working day.

Even 15 minutes outside can boost your wellbeing, both mentally and physically.

Already embraced across the Netherlands, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Lithuania, Romania and beyond, this grassroots movement proves what’s possible when we step outside, with science to back it up.

Now it’s Australia’s turn. Welcome to the movement.

Did you know that nowadays we spend more than 90% of our time indoors - at home, work, and commuting - even though we developed and lived outdoors for 99.99% of our existence?

And that we spend approximately 90,000 hours at work during our lifetime?

Our bodies and minds simply aren't designed for that much indoor time. So perhaps it's time to experiment: how can we improve our ways of working and our environments so we can think, create, and feel better?

Outdoor Office Day doesn't require you to work outside all day. It can be celebrated in countless ways—through small actions that are convenient and available to you and your team. :)

This year Outdoor Office Day is internationally celebrated on the 11th June 2026, but let’s celebrate all week! I invite you to pick 1 day within a week of 9-12th June and individually or your team find creative ways to move at least some of your office work outdoors - working from home or office!

When joining you will be added to a like-minded community and receive guidance, support, additional information and ideas, and opportunity to learn from other countries.

Supported by People for Nature, a charity reconnecting communities with nature, and KISMET, a consultancy helping build better workdays.
