Outdoor Office Day Australia

Outdoor Office Day is a growing global movement encouraging people to reconnect with nature at work. What started in the Netherlands in 2019 has now spread across continents, including Australia. You are now also invited to make urban nature and staying active a regular part of your working day.

Even 15 minutes outside can boost your wellbeing, both mentally and physically.

Already embraced across the Netherlands, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Lithuania, Romania and beyond, this grassroots movement proves what’s possible when we step outside, with science to back it up.

Now it’s Australia’s turn. Welcome to the movement.

This time let's celebrate Outdoor Office Day(s) Australia on 19-23 October 2026, as part of the Biodiversity Citizen COP weeks!

Did you know that nowadays we spend more than 90% of our time indoors - at home, work, and commuting - even though we developed and lived outdoors for 99.99% of our existence? And that we spend approximately 90,000 hours at work during our lifetime?

Our bodies and minds simply aren't designed for that much indoor time. So perhaps it's time to experiment: how can we improve our ways of working and our environments so we can think, create, and feel better?

Outdoor Office Day doesn't require you to work outside all day. It can be celebrated in countless ways—through small actions that are convenient and available to you and your team. :)

In June 2026, Outdoor Office Day Australia joined the international celebration for the first time. Many thanks to the almost 100 people from 14+ organisations in 5 cities who joined and made nature part of their workdays.
